It's been a minute! We are back with another unique coffee from Sumatra! This time we are excited to feature an offering from Mansur in the Bener Mariah Regency of Sumatra. North of Lake Takengon, in Aceh, Mariah focuses on the three communities of Pante Raya, Lampahan, and Permata, representing around 300 farmers. Coffee from the Bener Mariah Regency is grown at a higher elevation than other coffees in the region and is naturally organic due to a high volume of native growing shade trees in farming areas. Sumatra is also home to the largest caldera in the world as the result of the largest volcanic eruption the Earth has ever known. This volcanic eruption changed the minerality of the soil throughout the country, giving coffees grown here their full-bodied and unique flavor profile. This coffee is no different. We roast this coffee darker than most of our other single-origin offerings, resulting in a rich flavor profile. Expect deep notes of cedar on the nose, a rich and full-bodied mouthfeel, lemon citrus acidity running throughout, and a lingering tobacco and molasses finish. We are excited to offer this unique coffee and know you will enjoy!
